In the Department of Psychology, we approach our subject matter with rigorous science, practicality, compassion, and ethical sense. In order to do justice to the complexity and diversity of human beings, we utilize a broad spectrum of approaches to theory, research and practice. We equip students to choose from among a variety of methods and to employ them with critical understanding. Our instruction emphasizes real-world situations and aims to serve individuals in their deepest suffering, everyday struggles, and great triumphs. Our curriculum extends beyond the classroom through many collaborations with research, teaching, and service organizations throughout the Foo Metropolitan area. These connections afford us an opportunity to learn with and contribute to the work of a variety of other professionals and to fulfill our commitment to promoting the welfare of the diverse populations around us. We take our ethical obligations seriously by respecting individuals’ freedom, dignity, and communities.
